Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Oh No! We're Rock/Pop!

It's official, The Grateful Dead are Rock/Pop.

I know this because I was labeling some .wav files while adding them to my music library and Music Match would not let me finish labeling without "choosing an appropriate genre"!

Normally, that's no sweat. Bill Monroe - Bluegrass, Anita Baker - R & B, Bob Marley - Reggae, simple right? But we're talking about The Grateful 'Goddamn' Dead here! Appropriate genre?!?! My ASS!

I muttered to myself and my wife gave me a funny look. "Did I say something?", she asked. I said, "No my computer just asked me an extremely difficult question".

After Scolling and thinkng and thinkung and scrolling, I saw no alternative but to label our favorite band Rock/Pop. SHIT! Sorry guys.

Even choosing one of those fancier labels would be pigeon-holing(anybody know why this figure of speach exsists?) the band with the most diverse library of songs ever!

Music Match must now only be called by the name: Blasphemer!!!!!
How could those software engineers not see the dire necessity of choosing the musical genre labeled: Grateful Dead. They have no foresight nor no morals. I shake my head in disgust.

How about Full Out Fusion? I mean, they didn't just fuse Jazz/Rock, they Fused Blues, Country, Bluegrass, Reggae, Jazz, World, Space, Acid, Rock . . . from ballads to crooners to flat out rock.

I am reminded of a time a good friend first listened to Mars Hotel with me. He said something like "wow, who ever heard of a blues break in a counrty song"? The way he said it was in pure admiration.

Bill Graham said and I probably don't remember it right, something llike "The aren't the best at what they do. They're the only ones who do what they do!"
